A project for everyone with blood in their veins
Kan Akademi (Turkish for “Blood Academy”) is a youth-led initiative in Türkiye. University students research blood donation, academics check the facts, and together we turn science into content that encourages people to donate.

Who are we?
Kan Akademi was started by pharmacist Elif Bölükbaş and is run by volunteers. Students from universities across Türkiye research questions about blood donation, experts review their work, and we share the results as articles, videos, posters, trainings and games. Our goal: to make giving blood a normal, everyday habit.

How our content is made
- Step 1
Apply
Volunteers fill in a short online application form. Our researchers are university students from many different fields, not only medicine.
- Step 2
Pick a topic
We send you a list of open topics about blood donation. You choose one, and together we agree on a deadline.
- Step 3
Research and write
You read reliable scientific sources and turn what you learn into a short, clear text that anyone can understand, without medical jargon.
- Step 4
Expert review
Nothing is published unchecked. An academic or health professional who works in that field reviews your text for accuracy.
- Step 5
Filming (optional)
If you like, you can also appear in a short video about your topic. We plan the filming together. This step is up to you.
- Step 6
Publication
Your work is published on our website and social media with your name on it, and you join our team of researchers.
